Konstanz and Switzerland and Füssen, oh my!!

Zack and Zoe in front of the Alps!!

What a hot, hot day. Like, forget frying an egg, people are melting. We woke up semi early and headed down to breakfast. Switzerland was waiting!

Zoe didn't eat much but she seemed ok. It had been a long, hot night and the kids hasn't slept much. I am not complaining...but this blog is all about the real trip. You're going to get a lot of real this post. So it was hot. All night. And we're Floridians who are very used to air conditioning. And well, the toilet smelled like grapefruit. I love grapefruit, but it just didn't work. Anyhow, she didn't eat.

We hightailed it to the harbor. We were taking a catamaran across the lake to Konstanz and meeting the Schaffners.  Traffic was worse than expected and we had a catamaran to catch. So we're running along the lake, past super fancy places, full of people eating breakfast. All of a sudden, Zoe looked at me with "that look". Parents know exactly what I'm talking about. She was going to puke...like now. The only word she said was "where?" And then she kept her mouth shut tight. I took her over to the railing at waters edge and she got sick. All over the ducks below. They all flipped out and honked and made a fuss. If she hasn't been so pitiful, she would have laughed. Meanwhile, I'm holding hair, Chris kept running to get us tickets, and Zack had no idea what to do. He is amazing that boy. He went into the restaurant (where everyone was eating their fancy breakfast and watching Zoe get sick) and got us napkins to clean up. She felt better after she was done, and Chris was back with tickets, so on to Swtizerland we pressed.

This was our catamaran.

See, she looked ok? Right?

The inside of the catamaran resembled a plane more than any boat I've ever been on. (L, you still would not have been impressed.)

Little resting...less sure how ok she was...

On solid ground. The Schaffners were there to greet us and be tour guides through Konstanz in Germany and our short time in Switzerland.

This was our entry into Switzerland - no pomp, no circumstance. Not even a sign I could read. Heck, Frank almost missed it!

Of course we found a soccer club, and a team practing!

And puppies to pet.

In Switzerland, we had been warned doing anything but taking pictures was cost prohibitive. So pictures it was!

Kreuzlinger is the name of the town in Switzerland that we walked on into!

Of course we found a super cool playground. Europe does playgrounds right!!

Then, we headed to check out the view.

Benderz pic in Switzerland!!

Whole crew pic! Love the GoPro!

This is Zoe and Bender half in Germany and half in Switzerland. Fun! Too bad she was looking droopy.

On to lunch in Konstanz!

Everyone but Zoe enjoyed super yummy sandwiches.

She tried, but...

It didn't go well.

Poor thing didn't even get ice cream while we were waiting for our return catamaran!

Both families bought big German flags and exchanged big hugs (or air hugs in Zoe's case!). It was very sad to say goodbye. They were fabulous hosts!

Back on the catamaran...looking ok again.

First Alps pic! Gosh I wish that meant it was cool. Still so hot, but absolutely breathtaking views during our ride to Füssen. Chris enjoyed them...everyone else crashed :)

We're staying at Hotel Weidemann tonight along with a bunch of bikers.  Like spandex, not leather. Cutest little town ever!!

Crazy King Ludwig's Castle!! One of them...just kind of hanging out in the Alps. Surreal!

Alps selfie!

Looking droopy again. Decided to stay in the air conditioned car while we looked around.

Tons of hang gliders and para gliders jumping off the mountain tops! It's hard to see, but there were at least 12 in the air when I took the picture!

This is the toboggan course we're going to hit tomorrow...provided everyone is feeling good. They are both pretty excited.

Zoe might have been droopy, but Zack was ready for dinner.

This cute place was recommended by Rick Stevens as well. We were the only ones inside. Everyone else chose outdoor seating. Zoe just couldn't do cigarette smoke tonight. The beer was fabulous.

I'll be honest, the food was not as good as what we had with Ulf or Frank, or what we found in The Black forrest. I was not a fan of my pork, but I took care of my spaetzle!!

Bender got weird potato/bread dumpling things that I think he liked. The cabbage was good!

Poor Zoe...soup and bread.

Zack did some climbing after dinner. Crazy background!

Then the boys brought us back to the hotel and Zoe and I took early showers and played Life on the iPad. We were both ready to chill. The boys went in search of soccer fields. They found this complex with the Alps in the background.

And even found some teens to beat up on 2 v. 2!

I started blogging early with a friend!

Unfortunately, Zoe was sick one more time. We're playing tomorrow by ear - seeing how she feels when she wakes up. Our hotel is in Munich tomorrow night. I'm off to bed. Holding hair is exausting!

Think non-pukey thoughts please! So far, so good since everyone else went to sleep!!

XOXO,
Benderz

Can you read this? I checked my stats tonight and people all over the world are traveling with us!! How very cool!!
