Eventually we made it to the Beergarden In Munich...but it was another long day. All's well that ends well.
Zack and I went to breakfast alone because Zoe was not doing well at all. It was a super long night. She slept for most of it but very fitfully. We were in a low bed and she spent part of the night half on the bed, part on the floor. Again....so stinkin hot. I slept less than her I think. Around 3 Chris was on his phone looking up ERs. Once she starts puking, her little body can't seem to stop. So breakfast was good, but lonely for Zack and I. We brought some muesli back for Bender.
It was time to check out and things were going from bad to worse. She had nothing left in her stomach, but couldn't stop.
So, Füssen ER was where we spent the morning.
All of us. We're all in this together...cue High School Musical soundtrack.
Because she hit her head when she busted on the slide, we knew they'd talk concussion. We hadn't seen anything other than the puking that led us to believe she had one though. Never even had a headache until she was dehydrated. The "surgeon" agreed and wanted to do an ultrasound on her belly to check her appendix and look for signs of a bug. So she told Zoe to lay down...Zoe panicked until we explained what the doctor was going to do. She thought she was going to cut her open! Oye. Our doctor was amazing and saw signs of a stomach bug and gave us some anti nausea meds. So cool how she used the sonogram to see stuff! It was so quick and painless.
Sweet girl was tough until she just couldn't be anymore.
So here she is on the streets of downtown Füssen trying to swallow her anti nausea meds with water. At home we always use applesauce (or the hospital just gives her a shot for that first one). It was tough, but she was successful!
The boys went in search of something to eat for lunch and to explore a bit while we let the meds work. We were without s hotel in Füssen.
We hung out in the entryway of a closed shoe store. I found at least six pairs I needed and the girl started feeling less nauseous almost immediately. Water was going down slow, but it was staying down.
Did I mention that the drug also knocked her out? I guess it could have been the fact that she slept so crummy, but this child didn't even know the boys went bobsledding! I sat with her while she slept in the air conditioned car.
Meanwhile the boys were up to this!! Another couldn't do it in the U.S. - flying down the hill, braking when you wanted to. I'm glad I was in the car rather than watching. They said they had an absolute blast...and Zoe got a solid three hours of sleep including our drive to Munich.
Check out that smile!
After a very quiet ride, we were at our Munich hotel.
but this was the best view!! Ate part of a leftover pretzel and peanuts from the minibar and was working on her second bottle of water. Pretty sure she was texting Allie from gym at this point. We have to sit at the door for wifi to work (I'm currently laying on the ground by the door while everyone else sleeps).
She is kind of awesome. As is this mirrored elevator selfie. (Zack was incredible today too. He had her back all over the place. They really do love each other!)
Our plans for the day were kaput. Instead, we got back in the car and took a drive around the city and talked about what we'd like to see tomorrow on the way to dinner.
I KNOW...a Beergarden doesn't sound like a great place for a first meal, but it ended up working out great. Ulf recommended this one from when he was in school in Munich.
We tried one of each sausage, sauerkraut, chicken, poms, the biggest pretzel ever and German potato salad. Zoe had watermelon. Which was perfect. Then she are a bit of chicken.
Fizzy water is a gift. I swear.
Of course there was beer!! Chris had the wheat, I had the hells. Delish...and such a fun atmosphere! We would do this weekly if we had one in Jax!
And look who was happy, joking, and ready for more watermelon? Which of course we got her!!
Prost!
And we found Popsicles! Which was good, because I'm pretty sure I promised to do "whatever it took" to get her one.
Beergarden family selfie!
Dogs of all sizes have a place at the garden!
Then, since everyone was feeling good, we decided to hit Olympic village to check things out.
Yes we found a soccer complex.
Yes we watched random men play soccer. It's just what we do.
Outside the soccer complex was the coolest mini-golf course. Some holes involved rolling your ball on a foosball-like table. So different!
There was a street basketball tourney going on, so they had bunches of courts set up. Zack and Chris moved in like they owned the place.
Zoe even took a few shots. I cannot believe the picture from the hospital bed was this morning. I know we'll get flack for going out tonight...we know people love our kids. We watched and listened carefully and she was good to go.
After Olympic village, we came back to the hotel. Chris ran down and took a picture of the fairgrounds where they have Oktoberfest. Crazy close.
Then we all played a game of Life on the computer and got ready for bed. Zoe was hungry which we took as a good sign. She took one more dose of meds but probably didn't need it. She said she was looking forward to breakfast! Yay!!
On tap for tomorrow is the stadium tour and buying marzipan and Bayern Munich gear. And no more doctors. Knock on some wood...YOU! Now please :)
Hope your Sunday was excellent!
XOXO,
Benderz
