Abenteuerpark Am Klötzenen Forst (Kletterwald), Meersburg, Überlingen Spital, and Radolfzell

Oh my stars, what a day!! Such a fabulous one...but we weren't going to let a trip to the ER ruin our day. But that story comes later.

This is our hotel in the daylight. It really is adorable. Never did find out who the people that spent last night in our room were!

We jumped in the car around 9 and headed out to breakfast with the Schaffners. Frank did a great job finding this little bakery.

Our first milk in quite a while, and some unique flavors. Chris got banana.

We dined al fresco and enjoyed this little town!

Then it was off to Abenteuer Park - zip line and ropes course craziness! We have been so excited about this part of the trip!

Zack getting outfitted in his harness and helmet.

Almost ready to go!

Not quite so sure about the harness.

Family harness and helmet picture!

The Schaffners ready to rock the course.

Once we were geared up, we were taught how to use the different clips and pulleys. After a little demonstration it was our turn to prove we could do it.

Then it was on to the treetops. Everyone was pretty impressive. There were no staff members in the trees, so the kids were responsible for clipping their own clips and attaching their own pulleys for the zip lines multiple times each obstacle. The obstacles ranged from easy to really difficult. You were harnessed in, but at some points Zoe had a hard time getting high enough to disengage her clips or pulleys.

Zoe and Julia figuring it out.

Zack cruising across an easy obstacle.

Making sure Zoe was all clipped in.

Group pic!

Amazing experience, but exhausting both physically and emotionally. There really was no way to fall, but there is no way they'd let you do it all on your own in the states. They'd have someone stationed on every platform unhooking and rehooking clips and checking pulleys before zip lines. We finished with quite the sense of accomplishment! Learned something new and conquered the course! We ended with beverages. The kids ended up loving this grapefruit flavored fizzy sports drink. I am addicted to fizzy water. Totally Amazon-priming a machine...maybe so it'll be there when we get home :)

We were on the ropes for just under five hours so we sort of missed lunch. Problem solved with a quick stop at the gas station for drinks, ice cream and pretzels.

Did you know this many kinds of gummies existed? Gummy bears originate from Germany.

Then it was time to explore Meersburg and get some swimming in. It. Is. Hot. Much hotter than normal. And there really isn't air conditioning anywhere, including our hotel. So we promised swimming after town exploring.

Look! My maiden name. Frank says it means something like "to the" in German.

Family pic in front of the castle. We took advantage of having a photographer...I'm sure yall appreciate not seeing so many selfies!

These Swiss lovebirds were getting married in Meersburg. Frank said it was so much cheaper in Germany, that it was a common occurrence. The bride was beautiful!

The lake and pool awaited...we just needed to climb down one more hill.

Look mom! A slide! My kids had never been on a plain old slide at a pool before. As a result, thats right where they headed.

This, was maybe five minutes before the injury.

I was in the water with them by the slide when Zoe came down and I heard a big thud. She was trying to be tough but had that "that really hurt look" in her eyes. She touched her chin and I looked closer.  I'm not going to describe how deep the cut was, that's how deep it was. So in the pool, I grabbed her chin and basically flung her out. While I was pinching her chin together she wasn't bleeding, but as soon as I let go, or if she talked or moved her mouth....ewww! I knew we needed something, so I sent Zack to go get te guys from the lake. By this time, people were starting to ask if we needed help, in German. Someone grabbed a lifeguard who took one look and went to get addresses for doctors. The lifeguard also put a bandaid on her (which worked ok as long as she kept her mouth like this...and didn't even swallow.) The boys were back and Chris ran to go get a car (and almost passed out running uphill through a vineyard!).

After one wrong turn, we ended up at the ER.

One lady took our info, assessed and cleaned her wound, and took our insurance and passport. Thank goodness Frank was there to translate.

The rest of the crew waiting outside. Best quote of the night? "We're still going to dinner, right?"

A doctor glued her right up and gave her some bandages. While experience took maybe twenty minutes and cost us only 70$. I was very, very impressed with German healthcare.

Then we went to Frank's brother's to see the house they stay in and check out the neighborhood.

Chatting with Limòn.

They boys went to play some soccer while the girls followed each other on Instagram and made some DubSmash videos.

The it was off to dinner in downtown Radolfzell.

It was Friday night so things were hopping! Quite the crowd listening to music, drinking beer and enjoying the atmosphere.

Dinner tonight was at Liesele.

Very traditional and very delicious.

Ulf, we had Maultaschen...this time in soup. Ridiculously yummy. We're going to learn how to make these babies.

The waitress looked at Chris and I funny when we both ordered the large size of our dinner. Spaetzle and schnitzle and sausage. And sauce. Cannot forget the sauce!!

She admitted we did a pretty good job at the end.

After dinner there was dancing on the square...

and very full bellies!

Not too full for ice cream though. Never too full for ice cream.

It was one of my favorite days of our trip so far. We saw real Germany, not tourist Germany. I love getting off the beaten path! I didn't need that hospital visit, but she's doing great and will be ready to swim again by HHI!

We are headed by catamaran across the lake tomorrow and hopefully into Switzerland.

Think cool thoughts for us tonight!
XOXO,
Benderz
