The Benderz visit Vatican City, Castel San Angelo and the Panthenon (and eat more super yummy food!)

After rest time, we were ready to roll! Onward to Vatican City...via a Metro ride and a line change. When we got off, Zoe happened to remark, "that was almost too easy!" I was not sold on HAVING to see the Vatican, but am so glad that we went! What an amazing complex. Rome makes me feel very, very small.

Zack and Zoe played in the holy water and we were good to go...until Zack and Chris saw this beaut!

This man was actually charging people to have their picture taken sitting in his car! And while the boys drooled considerably, no Euros were spent. Next we were on to the Castel San Angelo.

Zack and Zoe found the most random playground ever...

... and chatted with Caesar...

...while Chris had some words with Vystar on the phone. We've had some issues withdrawing money and he needed to get things rolling in the right direction! Things are now good to go (we got money tonight!)

After we checked out the castle, the boys found a random foosball table and borrowed a euro to play. Zoe did much more than annoy them... (Wink, wink).

Then we headed across the Pont Sant Angelo...

...to find some dinner. Our first choice was too crowded, so we ventured on. It was a rocky start...only two house wines by the glass? Really? It was a beer night for me! But things looked up from there! Not only was Mastro Ciccia delicious, it was craziness!

We had a ham and cheese plate for an appetizer with some focaccia bread.

Our main course was fresh pizza and pasta. Not trying to make y'all jealous, but it was as good as it looks.

But the insane part was we sat outside. Like on the road. And cars were still driving! Zack could have high-fived every person who drove by!

After dinner we took a stroll through some beautiful piazzas.

And finally ended up at the Panthenon. Another awe-inspiring structure!

Before our mile walk back to the hotel (yes, seriously...we may be eating like kings, but we are hitting 10,000 steps before lunch!), of course we got gelato!

It was another amazing night in Rome. When we got back to the hotel, we waited for L to get home and Facetimed with her quick to say happy birthday. And now, the children are snuggled up nice in their beds, while visions of gelato dance in their heads. We need to be out of here by 6:20 tomorrow to catch a train to Lucca. It'll be a short night, but we can sleep on the train!

Ciao for now!
XOXO Benderz
